Security
Is InTunnel secure?
Yes! All tunnels use HTTPS encryption. Your traffic is encrypted end-to-end between users and your local service.
Who can access my tunnel?
By default, anyone with your tunnel URL. You can restrict access using:
- IP Whitelisting - Only allow specific IPs
- Device Binding - Lock tokens to specific devices
Can InTunnel see my traffic?
Traffic passes through our servers encrypted. We do not log or inspect your traffic content.
How do I secure my tunnel?
- Keep your token secret
- Use device binding
- Enable IP whitelisting for sensitive services
- Dont share your tunnel URL publicly unless intended

What ports can I expose?
Any TCP port on your local machine (common: 3000, 8080, 5000, etc.)
Can I expose multiple ports?
Yes, create multiple tunnels with different subdomains, each pointing to a different port.
Does InTunnel support WebSockets?
Yes, WebSocket connections work through InTunnel tunnels.
Does InTunnel support HTTPS locally?
Your local service can be HTTP. InTunnel handles HTTPS encryption on the public side.
What is the maximum request size?
There is no hard limit, but very large file uploads may timeout.
How many tunnels can I create?
Currently unlimited for registered users.
Account
Do I need an account?
Yes, you need to register to create tunnels and get tokens.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings in your dashboard and click "Delete Account".
Can I change my subdomain?
Yes, you can edit or create new tunnels with different subdomains.
I forgot my password
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page and follow the email instructions.
Clients
Which client should I use - GUI or CLI?
- GUI: Best for beginners, visual feedback, occasional use
- CLI: Best for automation, scripting, power users
Does the client need to stay running?
Yes, the client must run to keep the tunnel open.
Can I run the client as a service?
Yes! On Linux, you can create a systemd service:

Our binaries are not yet code-signed. This is normal for open-source projects. You can verify the download using SHA256 checksums on our download page.

What domains are available?

Can I use my own domain?
Not currently, but this feature is planned for the future.
Are subdomains case-sensitive?
No, MyApp and myapp are the same.
Limits
Is there a bandwidth limit?
No, bandwidth is unlimited.
Is there a connection limit?
No artificial limits. Server capacity is shared among all users.
How long do tunnels stay active?
Tunnels stay active as long as your client is connected.
